The Church: Silent About Sex No Longer

A few weeks ago, I pointed towards an ongoing series of blogposts by John Freeman of Harvest USA on how the church must continue to speak out (wisely, graciously, strongly) about sexuality.

I noticed today that the entire series comes from a newsletter article that is available here.

I am noticing more and more that younger Christians have very little sense of biblical sexuality--no theology and no ethics. Christians who are raised in our churches have swallowed every lie the culture is sending us about homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, gender, and more. It saddens me deeply.

The answer is not to rail about sexuality like a Bible-thumping angry hate-filled preacher who is sexually repressed.  Playing into stereotypes will not help people.

But plain, direct, loving, confident, joyful-in-the-truth, talk will help.  Speaking the truth in love is always the right thing to do.

Harvest USA has recently put a series of helpful books and study guides through New Growth Press. The newest is called Sexual Sanity for Men: Re-Creating Your Mind in a Crazy Culture by David White.  It looks really good.
