* These are books I finished reading in 2014, not the ones I started or the ones I didn't get done. I read a bunch of them for fun, some for homeschooling, and a lot of them just to learn and grow. This year, I lost track a couple of times and had to reassemble them, so the order may be off.

As I say each year--I'm not endorsing these books just because they are listed here. Some of them are really good and some are really bad. Most are somewhere in between. Read with discernment.

Do you realize this year you've put 24 of the 103 works in the Maigret series under your belt? Do you have a favorite? I've never been able to pick one. Thank you for sharing your list.

This was definitely "The Year of Maigret" for me.

Sadly, I had never heard of the great French detective until this year, but wife introduced us, and he's been a helpful escapist companion all year.

I don't think I have a favorite, except to say "whichever one I'm reading right now."

I see that you've got a special connection with Maigret. I'll have to check out your doctor book!
