Win a Signed Copy of "Growing Up with Guns" by Steve Sorensen

My friend and fellow EFCA pastor Steve Sorensen has just come out with a book called Growing Up With Guns

Steve is such an avid hunter that his website is called EverydayHunter.com.  He says that when he isn't hunting, "he’s thinking about hunting, talking about hunting, dreaming about hunting, writing about hunting, or wishing he were hunting." Steve knows what he's talking about--I've heard him speak at multiple sportsmen banquets and read many of his newspaper columns.

But his book isn't just about hunting. On his website he describes his book this way:
Growing Up With Guns
is a book about growing up in rural America. It’s a book about using guns responsibly, about hunting ethics and battling against hunter stereotypes, about conservation and hunting philosophy. It’s about how to think about hunting. The target audience is hunters, but non-hunters will see that hunters aren’t the bloodthirsty exterminators some people think they are. Everyone will gain a better understanding of what hunters really are, why hunters love hunting, and the role hunters must play if wildlife is to thrive in the future.
Growing Up With Guns is about the hunter’s role as predator and conservationist, plus a few personal recollections told with humor, and thoughtful opinions about hunting in today’s world. 50 chapters in four sections cover:
>> the days when people didn’t automatically assume guns were for killing people
>> the predator who cares about his prey species and his impact on species that aren’t his prey
>> the hunter as a non-consumptive user of wildlife, and why hunting is life-giving
>> tips and strategies that will make you a better hunter.
If that sounds interesting to you, then I've got a deal for you!

CONTEST

I've got an extra signed copy of Growing Up with Guns, and I'm planning to give it away this week.

To enter into the contest, simply leave a comment on this post either here or on my Facebook and give me one good reason to give this book to you.

You can receive a second and third and fourth chance to win by linking to this contest on social media (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, etc) and sending me the link, either in the comments here or via email to pastormattmitchell AT gmail.com.

On Friday, I'll put all of the entries into a hat and draw out the winner's slip of paper and put the book in the mail.

Steve's book is only $17.99, but Steve's website says you can get it for $15 right now, so if you don't want to wait to see if you win the contest, go over there and order one. (They're on Amazon for $20.98 including shipping.)

I'm about halfway through my copy, and I'm enjoying it. While the bulk of it is about hunting, guns, conservation, etc, Steve has also woven in worldview meditations drawn from the Bible that he calls "Think About This."  Good stuff!
